  Who wrote the book of Revelation?

  i commented elsewhere that some believe john the baptist might have been the author of the book of revelation.

  i thought i should start a new thread on this subject, since the subject might be of interest to others.. over the centuries, several names have been put forward as the author but, as i wrote, some only think the firebrand baptist might have been the author, but no one really knows.. i have provided a scan from a book that discusses what we know of the author as well as canvassing possible candidates.. the pages are available at:.

  I think I read almost half the scriptues in Revelation refer to the Old Testament which your right Doug does make it a very Jewish book compared to the rest of the Gospel. Some say that John the Evangilizer, the Apostte, and John from the Isle of Patmos were three different people. The differences of style between the book of John and the Revelation make scholars think they were different people, and others do believe it was written by the Apostle who would have been an old man by that time.

  I forget what the 'Babylon The Great Has Fallen' book said as to who wrote it. I am sure with their emphasis on 1914 at the time that books been long disgaurded, ancient history kind of like I am becoming.

  Thanks for sharing. By the way, how long or the length of time you been in position of responsibility?

  Scott77 I was in postions of irresponsiblity for: about a year of pioneering, four years at Bethel about two as a ministerial servant, and another year as an MS/ pioneer in the congregation back home because I didn't know what else to do.

  Once I was a ...pioneer, bethelite, ministereal servant, gave hour talks, and then I became inactive, called on by the elders to return, wrote a letter saying buzz off. Off to college and....

  What is the Christian Militia?

  i don't get it.. a couple of months ago i saw a video (rachael maddow) with all these people in senate, or congress, or whatever they were....praying with all the whoop-tee-do hand-holding, hand waving, head nodding, foot stomping, body rocking motions of out of control pentecostals.

  so it seems apparent that the "religious right" is alive and well and totally infiltrating in high government positions.. but then, at the same time, there seems to be a consensus that there is a christian militia with intention of disrupting everything and hollering about the government taking away their rights.. i have seen videos with christians wearing their guns to church.

  years ago, something like this would not be allowed.

  But I am afraid the government is stirring up groups like this as a pretext for taking guns away from law abiding citizens who have a constitutional right to arm themselves for purposes of self defense not offensively. If you get a government that turns facist like Hitler and starts putting citizens in concentration camps under those conditions citizens have a right to defend themselves.

  I am afraid government could be setting up some groups to stage violence as a pretext for taking away citizens rights to bear arms.

  MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS DIED

  this is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.

  i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.

  he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.

  Sorry for your loss Mary, the medical establishment took my dad in February and my mom in 96 and the JW's long ago, I feel the pain of this and hope you can find comfort, I have enjoyed your comments and contributions on the board.

  This is the same trick that the Feds pulled at the G 20 protests back in Seattle, the Feds sent paid shills in to pose as anarchists, they come out of the peaceful crowd of protesters smashing windows and throwing rocks and eventually the Police attacked with tear gas, rubber bullets and clubs, the shills are allowed to slip through an area controlled by some of the cops and the other cops go after the peaceful protesters and beat the crap out of them, and then arrest them and put them in a data base. I doubt all the cops knew of the anarchists that were shills.

  Then some of the cops went to the University of Pittsburgh and started tear gassing students on film who weren't even protesting, just walking around campus. those cops went after the students who were on their own campus and it's on film on U tube. Jason Bermas was there as a reporter and said he asked some of the supposed cops why they were in military fatigues, they stopped talking to him after he asked.

  My dad died after not speaking with me for almost thirty years ditto for my brother and his family thankyou Watchtower Bible and Tract society for wrecking my family based on false interpretaion of scriptures.

  Speaking of not looking at old publications when I was at Bethel some fellow bethelites accused me of being apostate when they spotted me in the library reading near a section of the old publications, they thought I was reading them, I was just preparing a talk but that's the kind of paranoia they had about looking back at their past teachings.
